Will is the lead vet at our Cheshire branch in High Legh. In 2016, Will founded Avivets through his drive to provide independent, professional veterinary services to the industry he is passionate about. Will is a sheep farmer’s son who has grown up working with livestock, developing an interest in poultry from a young age. He has spent all of his professional career as a poultry and gamebird vet finding a special interest in gamebird breeding, pullet rearing and free range layers. Will has recently completed a post graduate certificate in poultry health and management and gained a distinction from the renowned Pirbright Poultry Health Course. Previously, Will has guest lectured at both the University of Nottingham and University of Surrey vet schools and is also a LANTRA qualified trainer/instructor. Will is a qualified Official Veterinarian for avian exports and sits on the RSPCA’s technical standards advisory board.
After keeping poultry from a young age, including breeding and showing, Sam decided to go straight into a career as a poultry vet after graduating from The University of Nottingham Veterinary School in July 2019. Throughout vet school, aside from being well known as ‘chicken boy’, Sam gained many placements in poultry including an externship at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Centre, University of Georgia, USA! He have been very interested in all elements of the poultry farming industry and is looking forward to learning more from working with Avivets!
Poultry isn’t his only passion; when not in practice Sam enjoy playing tennis, producing vegetables in the garden and hitting the gym! He grew up in hilly West Yorkshire so is always looking to get out and conquer some climbs on the road bike too.
